"This morning's conference was great!  It was a wide range of participants on the panels and that was a great way to hear a wide view of options and ideas from the panelists!  Kevin Hancock gets my vote for most open, honest and helpful answers to questions. He was outstanding and his thoughts today were very heartfelt and honest.  Take away the layers of "facade" and discuss the truth of what it's like and how you face the issuers."

COST: Free for Members, $35 for Future WIFB Members

Join us at our “Secrets to Success at Different Stages in Your Career” panel with Mary Pols, editor of MWM, as our moderator. We will have Mary Allen Lindemann, CBD co-founder and community builder (2002 MFBA Small business winner), Quincy Hentzel, CEO of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce, Adele Ngoy owner of Antoine’s Tailor Shop and founder of Women United Around the World and Stacey Bsullak, co-owner and operator of Gathering Winds Farm and Orchard.

During this panel, Mary Allen will share her story on how she developed her business from the ground up, Adele on how she came to Maine from the Democratic Republic of Congo and purchased and expanded an existing business while starting her own nonprofit; Quincy, who represents over 1,000 members with the distinction of being the first women to be a CEO of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and Stacey who works with her veteran husband and has recently transitioned into a leadership role with her business after 20 years as a sign language interpreter.

We have light hors d’oeuvres, wine, and time to network.

Quincy Hentzel currently serves as the President and CEO of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce which is an organization committed to building our community through business and economic opportunity. The Portland Regional Chamber is comprised of 1300 members representing Portland the 7 surrounding communities.  Prior to her role at the Chamber, Hentzel spent 14 years doing government relations and public affairs work in Augusta as well as Washington DC, a majority of that time working on behalf of Maine’s credit unions.

Mary Allen Lindemann – Co-Founder and Community Builder, Coffee By Design (CBD)

Mary Allen Lindemann’s B.A. in poetry from Brown University led her first to a career in advertising and marketing in New York, Boston, and Seattle. It was in Seattle where her life changed after she tried a Caffe Latte for the first time in the late 1980s. Mary Allen’s newfound passion for coffee and a love of New England brought her and her partner Alan Spear to Portland, Maine, where they founded Coffee By Design in 1994.  With Mary Allen’s guidance, the company stays true to its Maine roots and maintains its commitment to giving back to the local and international communities to which Coffee By Design is intimately connected.

Adele  Masengo Ngoy – Owner, Antoine's Tailor Shop,    Founder, Womem United Around the World

Adele is a fashion designer who moved to Portland in 2000  after fleeing civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She  arrived in the U.S. as a single mother with three young  children, no English and no resources.  Today, Adele owns  Antoine’s Tailor Shop and Formal Wear, where she offers a  wide range of custom design and alteration services. Ten years  ago, Adele founded Women United Around the World, a  nonprofit where she teaches sewing to immigrant women.
